.05.20 - Multiplying fractions and mixed numbers by integersToday we are going to access the daily maths lesson on BBC Bitesize to revise multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. There are two teaching videos, 2 worksheet activities and a game to play (play 'The Forest of Fractions and Decimals' level). There is no need to print out the worksheets; you can work on paper. The answers are provided so you can check your understanding. When you have finished, explain to someone in your house the method you use to multiply mixed numbers and set them some questions to answer. You can check they have completed them correctly.
.05.20 - Lesson 2 - Multiply fractions by fractionsFollow the link to White Rose and work through the lesson tutorial. The lesson activity worksheets are no longer available to click on next to the tutorial, so I have included follow up work for you below. Check your understanding by completing the fluency sheet and then having a go at the mastery work. You should focus on the third mastery sheet (with the deepest dive submarine symbol), but feel free to do the first two if you want to. The answers are provided separately so you can check your work.
.05.20 - Lesson 3 - Divide fractions by integersFollow the link and work through the tutorial. After that, have a go at the worksheets below. Dividing Integers 1 and 2 shouldn't take very long and I have included the answers so you can check your work after each one. The mastery work tests the depth of your understanding and has 3 worksheets. The first (with the submarine diving just under the water's surface) is the most straightforward and the last (with the submarine near the seabed) is the most challenging. If you are feeling confident, you can go straight for this one and if you feel you need to build up to it, have a go at the middle sheet first (with the fully submerged in water submarine). You don't need to print the work out if it isn't possible; just work on paper and draw the diagrams / record your answers. Try your best!
.05.20 - Fractions of amounts applied in contextFollow the weblink and work through the videos. After that, complete the two worksheets in the section labelled 'Practise' - Activity 1 and Activity 2. You can work on paper and check your answers once you have completed the questions. This probably won't take very long - it's just a quick refresher for you. I would like you to then have a go at the mastery problems I've attached below also. You should tackle the greater depth problems on the third sheet (scroll down - the submarine is near the sea bed). When you have finished, you can open the mastery answer sheet to check your solutions. Your answers are on the third answer page (again, just scroll down).
.05.20 - It's Friday and time to have a go at solving a maths mystery. Use your refreshed fractions knowledge and powers of reasoning to solve the clues and catch the culprit. Answers are included so you can check your final solution, but try not to look until you've finished. See how good you are at being a maths detective!
