RE – Religious Leaders in Judaism

We will continue to study the leaders who help with the rules of religion by looking at Jewish Rabbis today. Follow the link below and watch the video. Then read the information and try the activities:

https://www.truetube.co.uk/film/day-life-jewish-rabbi

Religious leaders in Judaism

  1. Rabbi means master or teacher.
  2. They are very important as Jewish people ask them for help and guidance if they have any problems.

  1. Rabbis must be caring, kind, strong and courageous. They need to be patient and calm as people will be asking them lots of questions and for help at all times of the day and night.

  1. Jews believe that rabbis are special and important as they know the law of God and have spent years learning it.

  1. It takes many years to become a rabbi as they must be able to read and explain the teachings of the Jewish holy book. This means that they are experts in Jewish law and are able to guide people in their faith. Without rabbis, many Jewish people would be lost as they would not truly understand their religion.

  1. Rabbis lead worship and also give support. They often lead classes for children and adults at the synagogue.

  1. They get people married. They lead funeral prayers. They visit the sick and elderly. They also go to prisons to give support and help to prisoners.

  1. As you can see, rabbis are very important as leaders for the Jewish community. The people need them and respect them a lot.
