6P

Hello and welcome to 6P’s class page!

Attendance

6P Attendance for Week Beginning 18/03/24 - 93.4%

6P Spring Term Attendance - 90.4%

Attendance is very important in Kensington Primary school.

“We can't teach an empty chair!”

We have many incentives to be in school, on time, every day!

These include magic moments, attendance raffles and extra play!

Attendance Rewards

For having 100% attendance for a full week, we won an extra play!

In 6P, we believe in enjoying our learning journey and in challenging ourselves to achieve.

We are encouraged to be confident, risk taking learners who recognise that self-belief is vital on the road to successful learning.

We understand that year 6 is a pivotal year in our school lives and recognise the expectations that Mr Paton has for us.

6P makes up one part of our year group and we seek to work alongside the other classes to have the best possible final year in Kensington! We are a three form entry school, meaning there are three classes per year group.

Our year 6 team consists of:

6P: Mr Paton (Class teacher)

6W: Mrs Willshire (Class teacher)

6C: Miss Cleary (Class teacher)

LSA’s working across all three classes: Mr Telfer and Miss Kewin.

Mr Paton

in 6P, we understand the importance of being a role model and adhere to the IB learner profile.

What is the IB learner profile?

The profile aims to develop learners who are:

  • Inquirers
  • Knowledgeable
  • Thinkers
  • Communicators
  • Principled
  • Open-minded
  • Caring
  • Risk-takers
  • Balanced
  • Reflective

Uniform:

We believe that the best way to feel part of our school community and feel in the right frame of mind for learning is to come to school dressed smartly in our school uniform.

Cardigans/ jumpers and school ties can be purchased from the school office.

PE day

PE is on a Friday every week. You are required to wear dark shorts and a white t-shirt.

No football kits are allowed.

Children must come to school in their uniform and they will change for PE.

Spanish

Here at Kensington Primary school we have a Spanish lesson once a week.

We have many enjoyable and educational trips to enhance our learning during the year.

Details of trips and visits for the 2023/24 academic year will be updated here when we have the information available.

Here are some details of trips and visits from the last academic year:

We had a visit from Jackson from AS Creatives ( a scientist) to talk to us about Evolution. We studied Charles Darwin's Origin of Species in English and in Science we investigated adaptation and evolution, meaning Jackson's visit was very informative

Stay and Read / Stay and Puzzle

Stay and Read

Three times a year we invite parents/carers into school to read with us. This is a brilliant way to get an insight into what reading is like in our school and have the chance to have a snack and a drink. We have been doing Stay and Read for a few years now and it has always been a roaring success.

Stay and Read dates for 2023/24: Wednesday 18th October 2023 9am

Stay and Read also gives you the chance to visit our wonderful reading areas.

Our reading area - a chilled and relaxing place to unwind and get lost in a good book!

Not only do we have an extensive class library but we also have our school library. This is not just one, but two KS2 library areas; one fiction and one non-fiction. These are filled with many different genres and information texts.

Stay and Puzzle

We invite parents/carers into our class three times a year to work through maths puzzles with us. This allows our loved ones to see the type of maths that we do in the classroom and to better understand the methods that we use. Activities will include fun maths mysteries!

Stay and Puzzle has been updated to feature more of your children's classwork.

Stay and Puzzle dates for 2023/24: Wednesday 29th November 2023 9am
