 Pupil Panel

In September, all children from Year 1 to Year 6 have the opportunity to put themselves forward to be a member of our Pupil Panel.

Those children interested in becoming a Pupil Panel Member should take away and write a Persuasive Statement or Persuasive Poster You may want to give them a few days to put their statement together in school or at home. These are read to the class and question and answer sessions are held. Children are then asked to vote within their own class, two boy nominees and two girl nominees. An election is held early in the Autumn term to elect one boy and one girl from each year group.

Our first meeting was held on Friday 17th November 2023. We discussed the role of our Pupil Panel and how we were going to represent the childrens voices from their year groups. The first task was to find out what children wanted on the menu for after Christmas. Their second task was to ask the children what issues they would like to discuss during our meetings throughout the year.

Our second meetings was held on Friday 1st December 2023. Each Pupil Panel member fed back ideas that they had gathered from their year groups. Year 6 also visited Reception to gather their ideas.

Tracey Ferrie our new Head Cook was invited to the meeting to hear hate feedback about their menus.

Here are some examples of the food that they wanted;

All day breakfasts, pancakes, waffles, lemon chicken, corndogs, sweet and sour chicken, BBQ wings, egg fried rice, chicken wraps, tacos, Scouse, rice pudding and soup.

Our second task was to think of things that could be discussed during our meetings, the feedback included;

More lunchtime sports, upgraded equipment, new equipment for the Joga leaders and activities, more reading books at lunchtime, more TT Rockstars events, white toast at snack, water bottles and lids, more space for football and different afterschool clubs.

Following the feedback the members have been asked to ask what clubs people would like after Christmas and what activities or equipment they would like to see. We will invite Mr Chubbock and Mr Ashley to our next meeting on Friday 15th December to discuss the feedback they have gathered.
