RHP

Welcome to RHP

RHP is our Reception class of curious 4- and 5-year-old explorers. We learn through play, sparking curiosity and imagination every day. Our children enjoy sharing stories, building a love of reading, and developing a deep understanding of maths through the mastery approach. We are a kind, friendly, and fun class where every child feels valued and learning is always an adventure!

Our class teachers are Mrs Heeney and Mrs Procter.

Mrs Heeney is in class Monday - Wednesday and Mrs Procter is in class Wednesday - Friday.

Our support assistants are Miss Morris and Miss Hussey.

Attendance

RHPs attendance for the week beginning 31/08/2026 was 90.6%

If we have 100% attendance for the week, we will win an extra playtime!

We must remember to be in school, on time, every day!

We believe good attendance is essential for children to be settled in their routines and access all of the learning opportunities available to them.

Reception Curriculum

At Kensington Primary, we follow Drawing Club, a creative and engaging approach to early literacy developed by Greg Bottrill. Drawing Club brings stories to life through drawing, imagination and purposeful mark-making. Each week, children explore a high-quality text, picture book or short animation and use it as inspiration for their own drawings and ideas.

Children draw characters, settings and adventures from the story, adding magic buttons or secret symbols that allow them to imagine “what if?” scenarios. These drawings are supported by rich vocabulary, talk and phonics-based writing, which develops naturally from marks and symbols into letters, words and simple sentences.

Drawing Club supports children’s imagination, confidence and love of learning while strengthening key skills such as language development, early writing, fine motor control and storytelling. Most importantly, it makes learning to write meaningful, playful and exciting for young children.
