School of Sanctuary & Anti-Bullying

What is a School of Sanctuary?

Kensington Community Primary School is a School of Sanctuary!

We were reaccredited with the award of School of Sanctuary in July 2024.

A School of Sanctuary is a school that is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for those seeking sanctuary. It is a space for those whose lives are in danger in their own country, who have problems at home or are just looking for space where they can feel safe.

A School of Sanctuary is a school that helps its students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equally valued members of the school community.

It is a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all.

Black History Month 2025

Each year group in school spent time during Black History Month exploring a black role model. The theme this year was "Standing Firm in Power and Pride". This theme celebrates the resilience and strength of the Black community.  The children explored role models such as Rosa Parks, Mae Jemison, Wangari Maathai and Martin Luther King Jr.

Anti-Bullying Week 2025

This week, the children focused on the theme “Power for Good”.

Friendly Ambassador Service

The Friendly Ambassador Service is a specially selected group of children from Years 5 and 6. They have had training in their role to ensure they carry it out to the best of their ability. They will be available during lunchtime in the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 yard. They will help children if they have a problem, are lonely or just need someone to talk to.

Refugee Week 2025

This took place from 16th - 22nd June 2025. The theme this year was 'Community as a Superpower'. The children focused on what we as a community can do to support people and families fleeing danger and how we can welcome them. Here are some welcome posters made by children in Year 3.
