Soft Play

We have soft play every Friday.

Curriculum

At Kensington Primary, we follow Drawing Club, a creative and engaging approach to early literacy developed by Greg Bottrill. Drawing Club brings stories to life through drawing, imagination and purposeful mark-making. Each week, children explore a high-quality text, picture book or short animation and use it as inspiration for their own drawings and ideas.

Children draw characters, settings and adventures from the story, adding magic buttons or secret symbols that allow them to imagine “what if?” scenarios. These drawings are supported by rich vocabulary, talk and phonics-based writing, which develops naturally from marks and symbols into letters, words and simple sentences.

Drawing Club supports children’s imagination, confidence and love of learning while strengthening key skills such as language development, early writing, fine motor control and storytelling. Most importantly, it makes learning to write meaningful, playful and exciting for young children.

WOW visits

We were so excited to receive a visit from Altru Drama Club this week! We had the opportunity to explore a variety of Traditional Tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man, and The Three Little Pigs. We had so much fun recreating the stories, and creating our own story at the end!

During the Autumn term we visited Imagine That! We had so much fun exploring space, digging for dinosaur bones, and creating magnets and bags in the art space. We even got the chance to be scientists and create our own slime!
