1JB

Hello and welcome to 1JB's class page. We are a friendly, lively and humorous class made up of 24 inquisitive children. Mr Bailey is our class teacher and Mrs Begum is our class teaching assistant. Our class consists of a range of ideas, cultures and beliefs which we are extremely proud of. We are always striving to work as a team by helping and caring for each other.

Class information.

Reading books are sent home daily. We encourage you to listen to your child read as often as you can. Your child's reading book supports their phonic knowledge, which in turn supports their learning.

Homework is sent home Fridays's to be returned the following Friday.

Spellings are sent in accordance with your child's phonics group. Please ensure book bags are checked daily.

PE takes place Wednesday mornings. Kits (white t-shirt, black shorts, black pumps) can be left in school and taken home at the end of each half term.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Begum at the beginning or end of the day.

Maths

We really enjoy our math's lessons. This term we have started our new topic of addition and subtraction. We love challenging ourselves with different problems and working together to solve them.

Literacy

We began this looking at poetry. We have been exploring different poems relating to our senses. We used actions to retell the poem. Take a look, can you guess which action goes with which one of our senses?

Science

We have been exploring our different senses this term. We have investigated taste, touch, sight, sound and smell. We investigated how sound travels by creating our cups on a string. We also sampled different foods and smells and created our own word bank to describe what we felt.
