Year 5

Year 5 in the Autumn term will focus on a River Study and the Water Cycle. Children will locate Rivers in the UK using maps and atlas’s and will develop an understanding of how to use a compass, plotting features of local area using an OS map. Spring term will see year 5 study the effects of Earthquakes and Tsunamis, studying how they occur and the impact on humans. Summer term year 5 will study USA, the human and physical features of the country, climate, biomes as well as their exports. Children will be introduced to geographical information systems (GIS) and will develop skills in data handling.
