Spanish in Year 3
The children will start their learning journey, by being introduced to simple Spanish greetings (Hola, Adios, Como Te Llamas? Que Tal?) they will build on this knowledge until they can competently ask, and answer, questions about name, age and mood.
During the Spring term, the children will progress to learning to count in Spanish. They will learn to understand and use numbers in multiples of 10. The children will then also be able to apply this knowledge of numbers within phrases e.g. 'I have three brothers' (Tengo tres hermanos) 'I am 10 years old' (Tengo diez anos). Numbers will be practiced during counting sessions in Maths throughout the term, allowing children to become secure in counting forwards and backwards in Spanish.
Throughout the Summer term the children will learn the Spanish days of the week and months of the year. They will then be able to apply this to ask and answer questions regarding birthdays and other special dates such as Christmas and New Year.
