Year 1

Why is Kensington a necessity to our local area?

Year one have had a brilliant time learning about our local area. They have learnt about the physical and human features of the local area and explained what they like and do not like about living in Kensington. Year one went on a visit around our local area, they went for a walk and viewed the area that they live in. Within the class, there was a lot of discussion about the area and more importantly, the children were introduced to map work.

Within year one, the children have been using google street map, world maps and an atlas within their lesson.

Support for parents

If you would like to support your child in their learning of geography I have come across a few websites that you could use with your child to help develop their learning further. I have also found some resources that may be of some interest to you and your child that you can buy and some ideas for family days out to visit Liverpool’s most famous and fun attractions.

The Liverpool Museum has a host of  learning experiences for both young and old. It has many exhibits that will help your child develop their understanding of Liverpool.
