Our introduction into year 6 was all about number. We started by recapping our understanding of place value and working with numbers as big as 6 digits (similar to what the footballer's get paid). After that we moved quickly onto the 4 operations, securing our mental maths skills and our written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
This half term, we moved onto our use of fractions, percentages and decimals. We have converted, added and subtracted between the three different forms, whilst being able to apply them to a range of word problems.
We also worked together as a class to compete in the Christmas Fayre challenge, a task where we had to spend a budget of £20 and make the biggest profit possible. This task required us to use our measuring, money and percentage skills throughout, resulting in us raising over £130 for charity.
